Jim Elson

Jim joined Clarke Child & Family Law as the Director of Operations and Counsel in May of 2026.
Before joining the firm, Jim worked as Counsel with the Law Society of Ontario advising lawyers and paralegals on a wide range of ethical and practice management issues.
As counsel on the LSO’s Practice Management Helpline, he answered approximately 7500 questions from licensees, focusing on practical solutions to everyday practice issues faced in the professions. He also drafted ethics study materials and examination questions for the LSO’s licensing process, developed various practice management resources and supports, and significantly contributed to the launch of the LSO’s Technology Resource Centre.
Jim holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of Toronto, a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Windsor, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Queen’s University.
