Services
We empower First Nations communities to protect their children and uphold their rights, combining legal expertise with deep cultural understanding. Our collaborative approach supports clients in navigating child welfare law, advocating for inherent jurisdiction, and fostering self-determination to ensure the well-being of future generations.
Legal Representation
We work primarily with First Nations and their First Nations Representative Services Program to support the First Nation’s rights and goals within the child welfare system, while also ensuring that their member children and youth remain connected to their culture, language and traditions even in the face of child welfare involvement. With expertise in the Child Youth and Family Services Act, and An Act respecting First Nation, Inuit and Métis children, youth and families, we have experience in facilitating the least disruptive options for families, including customary care, kinship placements, and creative custody arrangements.
We strive to minimize, to the degree possible, the stress and disruption to families dealing with the Children’s Aid Society. We firmly believe that families need and deserve strong and effective representation at every step of a child protection proceeding.
